Summary

The Head of Product Engineering Americas provides strategic, personnel, resources, and operational leadership for the regional product engineering organization. The role co-leads business line strategy and prioritization with regional Product Management counterparts, translates market and customer needs into technically executable portfolio and project plans, and ensures alignment with global product engineering and Innovation stakeholders. The position is accountable for building team capability, deploying resources across development and lifecycle priorities, and delivering disciplined execution across product changes, quality cases, technical support, and continuous improvement. The role serves as the senior regional technical voice for the product portfolio and drives a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused engineering culture. 

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Americas Product Engineering team, including workforce planning, recruiting, succession, performance management, and capability development in accordance with the Belimo HR process.
  • Own regional resource and capacity management; assign qualified product engineering resources to development projects, lifecycle activities, quality cases, customer-specific adaptations, and priority technical escalations.
  • Co-lead business line strategic discussions with regional Product Management counterparts and represent Product Engineering in business line and portfolio governance forums.
  • Provide strategic technical input to business line, product category, portfolio, and roadmap decisions; convert agreed priorities into executable engineering plans, budgets, staffing proposals, and delivery commitments.
  • Provide operational management of the product engineering function, including objectives, budgets, project and portfolio reviews, workload balancing, risk escalation, process compliance, and performance follow-up.
  • Ensure effective regional execution across the full product lifecycle, including requirements, feasibility, development support, industrialization, launch, product changes, verification and validation, post-launch design quality, and phase-out assessments. 
  • Coordinate with global Product Engineering, Development, Verification, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, and other Innovation functions to align methods, responsibilities, technical decisions, and global product platform support. 
  • Drive process excellence and continuous improvement in product engineering methods, tools, governance, technical documentation, and cross-regional collaboration. 

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline; master's degree preferred.
  • Postgraduate education in business, strategy, product management, or business administration is desirable.
  • Formal leadership, communication, or project / portfolio management training is desirable. 
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in product development, product engineering, or product lifecycle management, preferably involving engineered devices or mechatronic products. 
  • At least 5 years of experience leading engineering teams, technical functions, major cross-functional programs, or comparable resource-management responsibilities. 
  • Demonstrated experience with workforce and capacity planning, project staffing, budget management, portfolio prioritization, and operational performance management. 
  • Experience partnering with Product Management to shape strategy, roadmaps, investment priorities, and business cases, while influencing across functions, regions, and reporting lines. 
  • Experience managing products through development, industrialization, launch, quality improvement, lifecycle change, and phase-out. 

Additional requirements:

  • Strong business and technical English; additional languages are an advantage. 
  • Broad technical understanding across multiple engineering disciplines, with working knowledge of product / system engineering, requirements engineering, verification and validation, product design quality, and project / portfolio management. 
  • HVAC, building automation, control products, and application knowledge are strongly preferred. 
  • Ability to establish strategic direction, provide clarity, translate plans into action, delegate effectively, and maintain focus across competing priorities. 
  • Demonstrated leadership grounded in accountability, trust, collaboration, humility, customer value, and continuous improvement.

Belimo is committed to paying all employees in a fair, equitable and transparent manner. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,000 - $140,000 annually with a target performance bonus of 15% of an employee’s annual base salary. Compensation is based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.
