Mechatronics Technician 2 - Weekend Shift

Introduction

The Mechatronics Technician II is responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on a variety of electromechanical systems, automated machinery, robotics, and PLC-controlled equipment. This position serves as a key technical resource on the maintenance team, supporting continuous improvement efforts and mentoring junior technicians. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, hands-on experience, and a proactive approach to maintaining and improving complex systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair advanced issues in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment, robotics, and automated systems.
• Install, configure, and upgrade mechatronic components and systems, including sensors, drives, actuators, and PLCs.
• Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce equipment downtime.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on equipment modifications and process improvements.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and ladder logic.
• Document maintenance activities, parts usage, and system updates in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Train and mentor junior technicians on technical procedures and safety practices.
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Expertise

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field or 3-5 years of equivalent, relevant experience. (High School Diploma / GED required)
• Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), sensors, motors, and control systems.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, schematics, and electrical codes.
• Experience using diagnostic tools and test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities under pressure.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.

Working Conditions:

• Industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, heat, and moving parts.
• Regular physical activity, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, climbing ladders up to 40ft, and working in confined spaces.
• May require rotating shifts (including weekends), overtime, and on-call availability.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.

The base salary for this position ranges from $37 - $40 hourly with a target performance bonus of 10% of an employee’s annual base salary. There is an additional pay differential for this position. Compensation is based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.
